Guidelines to volonteer work at the P.S.V

As a child care center depending entirely on the financial help from supporters around the world, the Phuket Sunshine Village also welcomes applications for volonteer work. If you like to help us as a volonteer,
please read carefully the following informations:

Legal Aspect
Volonteer work in Thailand is subject to the local immigration and employment rules,and a work permit is officialy required. The fact that volonteer work does not involve any salary,financial compensation or retribution of any kind-other than the smile of the children- does not change the law. Therefore application for volonteer work from non-thai citizens being subject to the obtention of a work permit by the P.S.V, it is therefore the P.S.V 's obligation to select among all offers, and choose only the most benefitials for the children.

Communication
The Children of the P.S.V, as well as the large majority of the staff, does not speak english.Volonteer must therefore be able to communicate in Thai language, unless their particular skills do not need any translation (clowns,musicians,painters etc..) Please understand that it is not the duty of the P.S.V. to provide translators
for volonteer workers.

Logistics
Volonteers must be totaly autonomous and arrange all their transportation and accomodations needs while in Phuket by themselves. The PSV dedicates its time and effort to the children, and can not take care of the volonteers as well.
